Our insatiable curiosity is at the heart of our brand, allowing us to transpose techniques from other fields into the world of leather. We draw inspiration from traditional craftsmanship, particularly hand-woven bags that originate from islands, atolls, and remote coastal areas. These bags, primarily made from vegetable fibers, are used daily in indigenous communities around the world, from the South Pacific Islands to New Zealand’s Tribal Kit bags, to the refined Japanese craft of bamboo basketry and the French and British wicker panniers.
We have adapted these weaving techniques to leather, developing a unique method of coloring raw leather straps with natural dyes. Once the leather strips are prepared, our artisans use only their hands to craft each bag, creating one-of-a-kind handmade pieces. Over time and with use, our bags develop a patina that enhances their beauty, improving both the feel and look of each handcrafted item.
