Founded in 1947 in Annecy, in the heart of the French Alps, Salomon has always been tied to a passion for outdoor sports. In 1957 the brand revolutionized the world of skiing with the launch of the innovative “Skade” toe piece for bindings, laying the foundation for future innovations. In 1979 Salomon launched the SX90 boot, becoming a benchmark for ski footwear. A year later, the SNS Nordic ski bindings and boots system consolidated the brand’s leadership in winter sports.
In 1991, with the creation of the Monocoque ski, Salomon became the first brand to offer a complete ski equipment system, revolutionizing the way the sport was practiced. At the end of the 1990s it expanded its offering by launching its first snowboard, three TenEighty freeski models, and inline skates. In 2002 the XA PRO shoe became an icon of adventure sports. The S/LAB line in 2005 and the XT-6 trail shoe in 2013 reaffirmed its commitment to performance and innovation.
In 2019 Salomon inaugurated the Advanced Shoe Factory 4.0, a cutting-edge automated production facility in France. In 2022 it celebrated its 75th anniversary, and in 2024 opened a flagship store on the Champs-Élysées in Paris, in time for the Olympic Games.
